Edwina is a trained singer and has performed in seven languages and eight countries around the world. Edwina is both African and American, with her father's side of the family from Liberia, West Africa and her mother's side from California. Edwina was conceived in Liberia but her mother was forced to flee the country to escape the impending coup. She was born in Washington D.C., and lived in Maryland, New Mexico and California before she and her mom relocated back to D.C. while in elementary school. During her junior and senior years at New York University, Edwina was an intern at the Joesph Papp Public Theatre and worked on the New York Shakespeare Festival productions of Julius Caesar and Measure for Measure. While there she learned from acclaimed artists such as George C. Wolf, Sanaa Lathan, Jeffrey Wright, Billy Crudup, Jamey Sheridan, David McCallum, Danny Pino and Mary Zimmerman.
